LIVERPOOL// Everton manager David Moyes is interested in bringing David Beckham to the Premier League club.
The Los Angeles Galaxy have said Beckham will not be able to go on loan during the current Major League Soccer off-season after he was injured during a stint at AC Milan in March.
But Beckham will be entering the final season of his five-year Galaxy contract when the American season resumes next March, so he could be available to sign in a year.
Moyes knows the midfielder, 35, from their time playing together at Preston North End, where Beckham had a loan spell in 1995 early in his Manchester United career. Beckham also knows the Everton captain Phil Neville from playing together for United.
"I would hope that if David wanted to come he would pick up the phone and call me," Moyes said. "If he wanted to come back to the Premier League, he would only need to phone me or Phil and we would be here for him. He knows how to get hold of Phil and he knows how to get hold of me.
"We would have to look into it financially, but if he came and said to me, 'I would like to come and play,' I would have to go to the chairman and ask if we could do it, if we think we can make it work by selling enough shirts."
After playing a full 90 minutes in the Galaxy's 2-1 defeat to Australian A-League club Newcastle Jets in a friendly, Beckham played down the prospect of moving back to English football.
"I think it's always nice to be wanted and it's always nice to have options out there and I've always respected David Moyes from the time I've played with him at Preston North End ... plus I respect him as a manager," Beckham said. "It's always nice to be wanted, but I'm a Man United fan and it's a pretty close rivalry so, I don't know."
Having recently come back from injury, Beckham said he is concentrating on his recovery.
"Right now, I'm just getting my body back into shape because I was out of the game for six months with a pretty serious injury and I came back pretty quickly," Beckham said. "I think I'm feeling the effects of the month and a half I've played since I got injured."
Beckham is yet to say what he wants to do at the end of his Galaxy contract.
"I want to play as long as my legs can take me," he told The Associated Press last month. "I know it sounds a cliche, but I love playing football, I love playing the game. It's my passion. When I stop enjoying it, then I'll know I need to stop."
Beckham's Galaxy teammate, Landon Donovan, made a strong impact during a 10-week loan spell at Everton between January and March. The midfielder scored two goals in 13 matches, helping Everton beat Chelsea and Manchester United.

Tailors and retailers miss out on back-to-school rush
Tailors and retailers across the city said it was an ominous start to what is usually a busy season for sales.
With many parents opting to continue home learning for their children, the usual rush to buy school uniforms was muted this year.
“So far we have taken about 70 to 80 orders for items like shirts and trousers,” said Vikram Attrai, manager at Stallion Bespoke Tailors in Dubai.
“Last year in the same period we had about 200 orders and lots of demand.
“We custom fit uniform pieces and use materials such as cotton, wool and cashmere.
“Depending on size, a white shirt with logo is priced at about Dh100 to Dh150 and shorts, trousers, skirts and dresses cost between Dh150 to Dh250 a piece.”
A spokesman for Threads, a uniform shop based in Times Square Centre Dubai, said customer footfall had slowed down dramatically over the past few months.
“Now parents have the option to keep children doing online learning they don’t need uniforms so it has quietened down.”
