England batsman Jonathan Trott has left the team’s ongoing Ashes tour of Australia with a stress-related illness, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Monday.
“Trott will take a break from cricket for the foreseeable future and will take no further part in the tour,” the ECB said on its official Twitter account.
David Warner had lit into Trott on Saturday, saying of the England batsmene, and Trott in particular, “It does look like they’ve got scared eyes at the moment. The way that Trotty got out today was pretty poor and weake. Obviously there’s a weakness there and we’re on top of it at the moment.
“I think he’s (Trott) got to get new sledges as well because it’s not working for him at the moment. He’s robably worked hard in the nets on the short ball, but trying to face a 150 kmh short ball from Mitch Johnson the way to go is probably not trying to back away,”
Meanwhile, Australian captain Michael Clarke was fined 20 percent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council after warning England’s James Anderson to expect a broken arm.
The final day of the first Test against arch-rivals England in Brisbane, which Australia won by 381 runs, boiled over on Sunday with constant “sledging” (insults).
It culminated when Clarke was caught by a stump microphone telling tailend batsman Anderson to “get ready for a broken arm”.
He was reported by umpire Kumar Dharmasena and the ICC said Clarke breached its code of conduct, which relates to “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match”.
Clarke admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, avoiding the need for a formal hearing, the ICC said.
The second Test starts in Adelaide on December 5.
