The Emirates Heritage Club dominated the sailing competition on the final day of the Al Gharbia Watersports Festival in Al Mirfa, winning four events.
Saif Ibrahim al Hamadi led a sweep for EHC in the Laser 4.7 class, finishing ahead of clubmates Omar Ibrahim al Hamadi and Hamdan al Ghailani. "It was a very difficult win," Saif Ibrahim al Hamadi said. "We managed to get the title thanks to the good preparations and excellent techniques, as we chose the right path where [the] wind was best."
The club also took the top two spots in the Laser Radial class, with Talal Salem al Zaidi and Saeed Salem al Zaidi finishing ahead of third-place Hary Naith from Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club (IMSC).
In the Laser Standard class, Abdullah al Marzouki of the Emirates Heritage Club was champion.
The club also swept the modern sailing Senior Out Best class with Hamoud Salem al Zaidi, Saeed al Ghailani and Saif Ibrahim al Nuaimi taking the first three places. Oliver Hail finished first in the Junior Out Best class, followed by Ibrahim al Refaee and Abdullah al Baloushi from Al Hamriya Club.
The catamaran division was won by Conrad Civic of IMSC, followed by Flokar Fanhnk of Club Abu Dhabi and Irik Irvin of Dubai International Marine Club.
Abu Dhabi Sailing Club swept the Open Duet race, with Peter Tonkin, Steve Tenson and Malkolm Mailn finishing 1-2-3.
Also yesterday, a team from Al Gharbia Institute won the beach football championship by beating the Emigration team 2-0.
In surf kayaking, South African Tom Berort came first ahead of his compatriot, Jasper Moka, and the UK's Harry Smith. Ribika Mihio of the UK won the women's race.

Sim swap frauds are a form of identity theft.
