Ross second, Sharp Azteca third The National’s Amith Passela reports trackside: Second Summer under Patrick Dobbs provided UAE champion trainer Doug Watson with the opening prize of the 2017 Dubai World Cup meeting. In only his third local start and dropping in distance, Second Summer came with late challenge to pip German raider Ross and American hope Sharp Azteca over the 1,600-metre distance on the dirt. Edgard Zayas on Sharp Azteca took up the running as the field swept on to the 400-metre home stretch and for a moment it looked like he would go on and win, but the Freud colt got tired and finished third.
