Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been reprimanded, but escaped being fined, for hitting a plastic chair with his bat after being dismissed during his team's Indian Premier League win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Kohli made 33 in Bangalore's second successive win this season at the T20 tournament after they edged out Hyderabad by six runs in Chennai on Wednesday.
But the star batsman was charged for breaching the IPL's code of conduct that relates to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match".
TV cameras picked up Kohli's tantrum as he kicked an advertising cushion and then vented his frustration on the chair after falling to Hyderabad's West Indian bowler Jason Holder.
"Mr Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the IPL said in the statement.
Ex-India opener Gautam Gambhir was docked 15 per cent of his match fee in the 2016 IPL for a similar offence, but the current India captain has not been hit with a similar punishment.
Kohli's side top the IPL table after two games as they search for their maiden title in the 14th staging of the tournament, which is being played behind closed doors because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
