KL Rahul hit the highest ever score by an Indian player in the IPL as his Kings XI Punjab side thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The Punjab captain struck 132 not out to set his side up for a huge 206-3 from their 20 overs at the Dubai International Stadium.
As well as being an Indian record in the competition, it was also the highest score by a captain in the 12-and-a-bit seasons of IPL so far.
He was given a large helping hand by his opposite number. Virat Kohli twice dropped boundary catches off Rahul.
Rahul added 49 more runs after the first of the drops, with a vicious assault on RCB’s seamers in the death overs.
Kohli’s woe was complete when he fell for just one run in reply. It left his side on 4-3, and there was no way back from that.
Ravi Bishnoi and Muguran Ashwin took three wickets each as Punjab were fired out for 109, losing by 97 runs.
