Uefa held the Champions League semi-finals draw on Friday afternoon in Nyon, Switzerland, resulting in Chelsea being paired with Atletico Madrid and, in a battle of European heavyweights, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid going toe-to-toe.
Chelsea narrowly advanced thanks to Demba Ba’s late score on Tuesday night that brought them on 3-3 aggregate with Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea advanced on away goals. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, notched one of their greatest triumphs when an early Koke goal gave them the advantage in an eventual 2-1 aggregate victory to see out Barcelona.
Bayern Munich overcame a brief deficit to Manchester United for a 4-2 aggregate victory and Real Madrid, for their part, beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 despite a lacklustre 2-0, second-leg defeat to the Germans.
Both ties will start their first leg in Madrid and are scheduled for Apil 22-23. The return legs will happen a week later, April 29-30.
The Champions League final will be played at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal on May 24.
