Budoor is new UGA general manager

DUBAI // The UAE Golf Association (UGA) has created the new position of general manager for the experienced administrator Saeed al Budoor, who will now seek to give even greater impetus to a sport which is expanding rapidly in the region. Budoor has already played a leading role in the implementation of several schemes, launched by the UGA, particularly the junior development programme, and was business development manager for the Dubai Desert Classic between 2005 and 2007.

"I consider working for UGA an exciting opportunity," said Budoor. "We at the UGA will strive to create more playing opportunities for golfers, national and expatriates, to hone their competitive edge. "There is no dearth of talent in the country and it showed in the performance of the UAE team when they won the Pan Arab Championship last year." Sheikh Fahim al Qasimi, the chairman of the UGA, announced the appointment and commented: "With his youthful exuberance and administrative skills, I am sure Saeed will take the UGA forward.

"With his innovative ideas and off-the-wall thinking, Saeed has also contributed immensely in the staging of the premier Dubai Desert Classic. Saeed has the right credentials for the job." wjohnson@thenational.ae
