Bruno Senna was finally confirmed as the second Williams driver on Tuesday, and said he intends to use his newly acquired Formula One seat to erase dark memories of his uncle's time with the English race team.
Ayrton Senna, the late three-time Brazilian world champion, joined Williams in 1994, but died in a crash at San Marino in only his third race for the team.
Bruno will partner Venezuela's Pastor Maldonado in the season-opening grand prix in Melbourne on March 18.
"It will be very interesting to drive for a team that my uncle drove for," Bruno said.
"Quite a few of the people still here actually worked with Ayrton, and I'm happy they are now giving me the chance to prove myself here.
"Hopefully we can bring back some good memories and create some great new ones too."
The 28 year old, who replaced Nick Heidfeld at Lotus Renault in the second half of last season, spoke of his new team's "amazing history" in the sport, saying that "walking around the museum just makes me drool".
Williams, founded by Sir Frank Williams in the late 1970s, endured their poorest season to date last year, but Senna said it is time to turn the tide.
"It is such an important year for both the team and myself as it will help shape my future," he said.
"I hope that future will be long and successful, and it all starts here."
