<a href="http://www.thenational.ae/topic/organisations/sports-teams/english-premier-league-football-teams/bolton-wanderers">Bolton Wanderers</a> have sacked manager Owen Coyle after 34 months in charge at the Reebok Stadium. The club, relegated from the English Premier League at the end of last season, have struggled with life in the lower division and sit 18th after winning just three of their ten matches. A defeat against fellow strugglers Millwall at the weekend proved the final straw for the club, which has debts of more than £100m (Dh598m). Phil Gartside, the Bolton chairman, said in a statement on the club's website: "Owen poured his heart and soul into the job, both on and off the pitch, and he led our club with great dignity during some very challenging times." Coyle joined Bolton from local rivals Burnley in January 2010, guiding them to the semi-finals of the FA Cup the following season, but they were relegated from the Premier League last term after 11 years in the top flight. sports@thenational.ae Follow us
