Gareth Bale, the Tottenham Hotspur winger, says north London rivals Arsenal are weaker because of the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively.
Spurs ran out 2-1 winners over Arsenal at White Hart Lane in Sunday's derby to leave Arsene Wenger's side just two points above the relegation zone.
In contrast, Tottenham, who managed to keep Luka Modric, their star midfielder, this summer despite interest from Chelsea, have now registered four successive Premier League wins.
"Arsenal have lost a few players, which makes them more beatable I think as that has damaged the way they play," Bale told reporters. "We exposed that. I think keeping your best players is a massive thing. They are used to how you play and what you do. It is vitally important to do that and build your team around them.
"It is important that we have [Modric], and Arsenal were unlucky not to keep theirs."
Despite acknowledging that Wenger's team have lost their aura somewhat, Bale said they will recover, as: "They are still a great team. They haven't had the best of starts but I am sure they will improve. They have a lot of young players who are going to grow up in the next season or two and learn a lot. I am sure they will be fine."
Elsewhere, Carlos Tevez was reported to be meeting with Manchester City officials last night as the club investigate his alleged refusal to play against Bayern Munich last week. The club confirmed talks were scheduled to take place and Reuters sources close to Tevez said the meeting was taking place Monday at a private location. The Argentine has been suspended for two weeks after Roberto Mancini, the manager, claimed he would not come on as a substitute in the Champions League loss at the Allianz Arena.
Mancini said the 27 year old was "finished at City" after the game last Tuesday, but Tevez, who blamed the situation on a "misunderstanding", was to be given the chance to formally state his version of events.
Tevez will not be expected back at the Etihad Stadium until his suspension ends on October 12 and could therefore return to Argentina should he wish.
He has already been linked by the British media with moves to suitors Inter Milan and Qatari-backed Paris Saint- Germain.
