Barcelona allow Pedro to join Manchester United but not until after Super Cup — reports

Barcelona will allow forward Pedro to leave for Manchester United but not until after the European Super Cup, according to reports in Spain.

Pedro, 27, has said he is open to leaving Barcelona this summer after finding regular playing time limited last season due to the form of the first-choice attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar, who among them scored 122 goals.

Premier League club United have been linked with Pedro, and Marca reported that a transfer has been agreed for the Spain international for a fee in the region of €30 million (Dh120.5m).

With their opening Premier League fixture against Tottenham on August 8 and with Angel Di Maria expected to move to Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days, United reportedly are keen to complete the deal as swiftly as possible.

However, Marca claim Barcelona are hoping to keep hold of Pedro until after the European Super Cup against Sevilla on August 11.

Barca coach Luis Enrique is aware that Messi and Neymar are short of match fitness, given their extended break following the Copa America, and wants to be able to call on Pedro for the encounter.
