Sulaiman al Fahim moved to allay fears about his takeover of the English Premier League side Portsmouth by attending the game against Fulham.
It followed ongoing speculation in the United Kingdom that the deal was close to collapse, with the club's manager Paul Hart telling a fans forum that he did not believe the deal would go through.
Al Fahim, the Emirati who is a former chief executive of Hydra Property, passed the Premier League's fit and proper person test more than two weeks ago but has still not completed his purchase of the club. His spokesman, Ivo Ilic Gabara, yesterday played down Hart's comments, saying: "It's his opinion, but from our side the deal is on track."
According to Gabara, the "heated debate" was attended by Hart, Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie and hundreds of the club's season ticket holders, but it ended in disarray when Hart voiced his uncertainty over the deal.
"Mr al Fahim was at the Fulham game to show the fans, the club and its supporters he is committed to the deal," he added.

People can also connect with each other and exchange “tips and notes, it’s extremely healthy and fun”.
