ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi Saracens travel to Doha on Friday for their penultimate, top-of-the-table match in the Gulf Top 6, which will also act as a dress rehearsal for the West Asia Cup final.
League leaders Saracens are unbeaten in eight games and hold a four-point advantage over second-place Doha. Regardless of the result and others elsewhere, these two will finish top of the league and contest the end-of-season showpiece.
Jaen Botes, the Saracens captain, said his side are enjoying their status as top dogs and he hopes the travelling party to the Qatari capital can keep the club's momentum going.
“Hopefully we can go there and perform,” the South African said. “I believe the boys are quite excited and we are ready for a good game.
"In terms of the best side travelling, there is no such thing at the Abu Dhabi Saracens. Here, everyone who gets into the Saracens jersey is considered to be of good value.
“All in all, we are looking for a solid performance. In rugby these days it’s not about the strategy, but you just go out there and perform by addressing what you have been doing all week in training.”
In today’s other matches Abu Dhabi Harlequins, last season’s champions, take on Bahrain, and Dubai Hurricanes face Jebel Ali Dragons.
