Sephora announces its new-season beauty launches

Sephora Middle East has unveiled its autumn/winter 2016 launches. Here’s what you can look forward to:

Tarte

The celebrated American cosmetics brand is making its much-anticipated entry into the Middle East market next month. The cruelty-free, easy-to-use products are known for their long-wearing, highly pigmented products, and the line is 75 per cent vegan. The brand will be unrolling its expansive range of products at Sephora, from the clay highlighters to the metallic eyeshadows.

Becca

The Becca X Jaclyn Hill collaboration, featuring a limited-edition face palette, will finally be available in the Middle East. Becca is also launching duo palettes to create customised glows for all skin tones.

Marc Jacobs Beauty

The latest addition to the Marc Jacobs beauty range is the Air Brush palette. Each of the five different palettes contain two shades, allowing you to apply your blush and contour your face efficiently with a soft, almost silky, luminous powder.

Too Faced

Too Faced cements its reputation of quality foundations with its new Born This Way Naturally Radiant concealer, which includes ingredients like coconut water, Alpine Rose and Hyaluronic acid to help keep the skin looking smooth, radiant and hydrated.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

They may be known for their extensive brow range, but Anastasia Beverly Hills’ latest launch is for the face. Its new Foundation Sticks contain creamy, pigmented formulas which help to achieve a look that’s both natural and matte. Available in 24 shades, they’re great for combination and oily skin types.

Urban Decay

Urban Decay is the latest cosmetics label to jump on the colour-correcting bandwagon. The brand is launching a range of Colour Correcting Fluids in five shades: green to reduce redness, yellow to correct dullness, pink to brighten dark areas, peach to conceal spots and lavender to help neutralise the skin tone.

Nails Inc

Nails Inc has revamped its Gel Effect polishes, adding the detoxing ingredient of charcoal to its formula. The new collection includes four shades inspired by fire, for autumn: a deep coral, a glistening gold, a charcoal grey and a deep raspberry.

Glamglow

Known for its face mask treatments, Glamglow is expanding its skincare range with new offerings that focus on the lips. The Plumprageous glossy and matte lip products contain Hyaluronic acid, shea butter, sunflower oil, vitamins E and C and mattifying mineral clay, promising to exfoliate, hydrate and instantly plump the lips.

Tony Moly

A must-buy brand for all kawaii lovers, the latest products from Tony Moly are adorably packaged in panda bear, bunny rabbit and banana-shaped containers. The new hand milk, lip balm and eye stick are cute and compact, making them handbag essentials.

Clarisonic

Clarisonic has unveiled a new range of compact devices for women, including its first-ever device for men. The Mia Fit provides a 60-second cleanse, and has the full power of the normal Clarisonic device, even though it’s just half the size.

These new launches will be trickling into Sephora stores throughout the month of October. The beauty retailer’s in-house brand, Made in Sephora, also has some new autumn launches, such as a charcoal face masks and kohl eyeliners. Perhaps most exciting, however, is the news that Sephora will be launching it’s e-commerce site in the UAE, this later season. There are also future plans to extend it to the rest of the GCC, starting with Saudi Arabia.

The smuggler

Eldarir had arrived at JFK in January 2020 with three suitcases, containing goods he valued at $300, when he was directed to a search area.
Officers found 41 gold artefacts among the bags, including amulets from a funerary set which prepared the deceased for the afterlife.
Also found was a cartouche of a Ptolemaic king on a relief that was originally part of a royal building or temple.
The largest single group of items found in Eldarir’s cases were 400 shabtis, or figurines.

Khouli conviction

Khouli smuggled items into the US by making false declarations to customs about the country of origin and value of the items.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he provided “false provenances which stated that [two] Egyptian antiquities were part of a collection assembled by Khouli's father in Israel in the 1960s” when in fact “Khouli acquired the Egyptian antiquities from other dealers”.
He was sentenced to one year of probation, six months of home confinement and 200 hours of community service in 2012 after admitting buying and smuggling Egyptian antiquities, including coffins, funerary boats and limestone figures.

For sale

A number of other items said to come from the collection of Ezeldeen Taha Eldarir are currently or recently for sale.
Their provenance is described in near identical terms as the British Museum shabti: bought from Salahaddin Sirmali, "authenticated and appraised" by Hossen Rashed, then imported to the US in 1948.

UAE currency: the story behind the money in your pockets
Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
