The winner of Yas Mall’s Design Your Way to the Runway competition was announced by fashion designer Reem Acra on Wednesday night.
Emirati designer Shamsa Saeed Khalaf Al Mazroui emerged victorious after being chosen as the finalist of three individuals. Her grand prize was a trip to New York Fashion Week from Etihad Airways, and a space to retail her work at Tryano in Yas Mall.
“I would like to thank Yas Mall for providing me with this wonderful opportunity,” says Al Mazroui. “I honestly cannot even begin to express how I felt when I was handed the big prize on stage. It was a magical moment and I’m truly proud of the work that I’ve done. I’m so excited to be heading to New York Fashion Week, one of the top fashion destinations of the world. I would also like to thank Reem Acra for inspiring me through her elegant taste and for giving me the chance to get my foot into this ever-evolving fashion industry.”
Runners-up Arshia Khan and Katerina Nechyporenjo were awarded trophies.
