Hospitals in Egypt are preparing to receive wounded people from Gaza once the border reopens with the Palestinian territory in the coming days, according to reports.

At least 15 ambulances were seen lined up and waiting on the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing on Tuesday.

The governor of Egypt’s North Sinai region said patients will be transferred to hospitals in Cairo or other parts of Egypt if their number exceeds capacity in Rafah.

Israeli strikes wounded 24 people in south Lebanon Tuesday, despite a ceasefire that has been in effect for more than six weeks, according to the Lebanese health ministry.

At about 7.30m, an Israeli drone carried out “a strike with a guided missile targeting a small vegetable truck” in Nabatiyeh Al Fawqa, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Tuesday condemned the strikes. He called for Israel's implementation of its commitments to the ceasefire during a phone call with US Gen Jasper Jeffers, who chairs the monitoring committee, according to a statement from the PM's office.

President Sheikh Mohamed on Tuesday held a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Mr Jaishankar conveyed the greetings of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Sheikh Mohamed responding to convey his wish for a strengthening of ties between the UAE and India.

The meeting discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and international issues of common interest, state news agency Wam reported.
