UAE company Damac Properties has made a $20 billion investment in the US to build data centres, president-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday. Hussain Sajwani, founder and chairman of the Dubai-based real estate developer, said it could increase its investment under the right market conditions.
Mr Trump said the first phase of the project will be conducted in eight US states, including Arizona, Illinois and Louisiana.
A Syrian Air flight arrived at Sharjah International Airport on Tuesday, the first international commercial flight from Damascus since Syrian rebels toppled former president Bashar Al Assad's government last month.
The plane, carrying 145 Syrians, according to the Sana news agency, landed shortly after 3.35pm. It marked a return to international travel from the Syrian capital after flights were grounded on December 8.

Mia Man’s tips for fermentation
- Start with a simple recipe such as yogurt or sauerkraut
- Keep your hands and kitchen tools clean. Sanitize knives, cutting boards, tongs and storage jars with boiling water before you start.
- Mold is bad: the colour pink is a sign of mold. If yogurt turns pink as it ferments, you need to discard it and start again. For kraut, if you remove the top leaves and see any sign of mold, you should discard the batch.
- Always use clean, closed, airtight lids and containers such as mason jars when fermenting yogurt and kraut. Keep the lid closed to prevent insects and contaminants from getting in.
