Strikes in Yemen and Blinken on Gaza - Trending

Trending Middle East brings you the latest social media and search trends from the region and around the world. Here are today's headlines.

A series of intense Israeli air strikes shook Yemen’s rebel-held capital and a port city early on Thursday.

The Houthi-run Al Masirah TV said Israeli bombs hit two power stations in Sanaa and an area near Hodeidah port. The Israeli military earlier said it had intercepted a Houthi missile launched from Yemen.

Videos on social media appeared to show debris, or another rocket, landed in eastern Tel Aviv, damaging cars and homes.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday he remained hopeful of reaching a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and promised to use his remaining month in office to achieve it.

His statement came during the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

Mr Blinken declined to predict success. Past attempts by the US to end 14 months of war in the Palestinian territory have brought repeated disappointments.

The UAE Central Bank reduced its interest rate by 25 basis points, a move that aligns with the Fed’s decision on Wednesday to lower the interest rate on reserve balances by the same amount.

The banking regulator reduced its base rate for the overnight deposit facility to 4.40 per cent, effective from Thursday.

It maintained the interest rate applicable to borrowing short-term liquidity from the regulator at 50 basis points above the base rate for all standing credit facilities, the regulator said on Wednesday.
