Trending Middle East brings you the latest social media and search trends from the region and around the world. Here are today's headlines.

An aid convoy carrying food meant for Gaza has been looted, the UN said.

It said 11 of the 109 lorries delivering aid for the World Food Programme and the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) made it safely to a warehouse in Deir Al Balah. Humanitarian workers were ordered at gunpoint to unload aid, UNRWA said on X.

Gaza's Interior Ministry said at least 20 people were killed in an operation against “gangs” that looted lorries bringing aid into the war-torn enclave threatened with famine.

The US Senate is set to vote on historic legislation affirming disapproval of arms sales to Israel. The resolutions, sponsored by Bernie Sanders, an independent politician who caucuses with Democrats, introduced the measures in September and announced he would bring them to the Senate floor for a vote this week.

While the measure is unlikely to pass, it has garnered support from rights groups and advocates across the country.

Meanwhile, G20 leaders called for a “comprehensive ceasefire” in Gaza and Lebanon during a summit in Brazil on Monday. The leaders backed a US-proposed permanent ceasefire in Gaza in return for the release of all hostages. They also called for a Lebanon ceasefire that would enable citizens to return home on both sides of the Blue Line.

Tearful appearance

Chancellor Rachel Reeves set markets on edge as she appeared visibly distraught in parliament on Wednesday.

Legislative setbacks for the government have blown a new hole in the budgetary calculations at a time when the deficit is stubbornly large and the economy is struggling to grow.

She appeared with Keir Starmer on Thursday and the pair embraced, but he had failed to give her his backing as she cried a day earlier.

A spokesman said her upset demeanour was due to a personal matter.
