Vitamin D is crucial to staying healthy
With reference to Janice Rodrigues's story Are you getting enough sunshine? Signs you might have vitamin D deficiency (June 8): artificial light is not a substitute for sunshine. Clean air is also very important and needed for good health.

The under-30 age group may never have seen life this rough
In reference to the letter written by the 17-year old student of psychology The toll of the virus on the mental health of teenagers (June 4): the lockdown is indeed a massive shock to the youth of today. Anyone below the age of 30 was born during decades where the gross domestic product of the world was growing. The youth in many parts of the world had it all; with a click they could order any pleasure or product at home. Their world has revolved around brands, shopping malls, etc.
The parents of this generation had struggled to buy their first refrigerators, washing machines, apartments, invest in the education of their children and also save for rainy days. Youngsters today have not had to struggle as hard as their parents, due to improved living standards, rapid advance of technology and their higher quality of education.
Covid-19 and the lockdown came as a shock to them. It will take time for the youth to assimilate this. They feel vulnerable and might never take the world or their prosperity for granted again. For perhaps the first time in their lives, youngsters are seeing the pain and hunger of the underprivileged being discussed openly. Hopefully, it will inspire some of them to introspect about the world and develop agendas to prepare for future emergencies.

Places of worship in India are open but onus on the individual
Coronavirus: India reopens temples and malls despite rising infections (June 8): Despite India now being fifth in the world in terms of Covid-19 cases, this recent strategy to open shrines and malls is a calculated decision by the Indian government. However, there are possibilities that the number of infections will increase in the near future. It is up to the people to follow distancing norms and wear masks.
