I write to you in reference to your article Faf du Plessis hits unbeaten century to lead South Africa to ODI win over Sri Lanka (March 3).
The recent One Day International cricket match between India and Australia was great to watch. Virat Kohli produced a magnificent performance on the second ODI. He managed to hit 104 in 112 balls and he also became the fastest captain to make 9,000 runs and hit 1,000 fours.
He has made India proud and has given the country a good chance of winning this series.

Women can do anything if they put their mind to it
I refer to Emma Day's article Meghan Markle to take part in female empowerment panel on International Women's Day (March 3).
I truly believe women should not be judged according to their looks but rather the strength of their character, their intelligence and as unique human beings. Women can overcome any challenge
because we are used to adversity and our lives are never easy. We must always prove that we can undertake the tasks that are traditionally given to men, even though we are judged more harshly for our failings.
Nowadays, women are challenging stereotypes and overcoming difficulties by taking up professions that were once reserved for men. This proves that gender does not matter in the workplace and can help empower the next generation of women in this region by offering role models they can proudly look up to.
Ahead of International Women’s Day, let us remember that if we put our minds to it we can succeed at any task we wish to undertake and make our dreams come true.

We must all combat climate change together
I write in reference to John Dennehy's article World Ocean Summit: Arabian Gulf faces climate change challenge (March 6). I find it surprising that the Arabian Gulf – a region that focuses so much energy and investment on conservation and preserving natural ecosystems – is one of the most hard hit by the consequences of climate change.
As its name suggests, global warming is an issue that knows no borders. Nations should work together to stop its effects and move towards a more sustainable way of living.
Because the UAE is home to people from many different countries and represents a true model of co-existence, it comes as no surprise that Abu Dhabi should host the World Ocean Summit this year, effectively bringing together different states to discuss common challenges. Protecting the environment is critical for life on earth and I believe each and every individual has a role to play.
Only a committed global approach to sustainability can help safeguard the environment and all of its precious resources.
