I write in reference to your article UAE is the world's second safest country to visit, report shows (November 11).
As safety is one of the biggest concerns of the modern world, a safer place to live and work is at the top of the agenda for most families. The UAE finding a place in the list of safest countries is a moment of pride for everyone, especially given the unrest in many other countries in the region.
Meanwhile, the report indicating that India is one of the worst-rated countries is deeply disappointing.
It questions the plight of world’s largest democracy. That terrorism is categorised as “very likely” there may also further damage the way the country is perceived around the world.

Delivery riders should take care on busy highways
I write in reference to your story Motorbike delivery riders fear for lives on UAE roads (Nov 11). I understand the worries of these young men, however some of them guys are equally guilty of reckless behaviour as anyone else on the UAE's roads.
I have experienced many delivery riders suddenly cutting in front of cars without any warning and not riding at a safe distance from other vehicles.
I also think that they should not use freeways, for their own safety. At the speeds most people keep on these busy roads, they don’t stand a chance in an accident.

Melbourne attack was a dark day in Australia’s history
I write in reference to your article Melbourne terror attack leaves one dead, two injured (Nov 10). The National covered these events in detail and the report was sad to read.
Even though terror attacks are not frequent in Australia, this incident was tragic. The man who attacked two and killed one was later shot by police, according to reports. Terrorism cannot be tolerated in any form, and I hope that the Australian authorities will remain vigilant from now on. I pray for the victims and their families.

Pharaoh's curse
British aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who funded the expedition to find the Tutankhamun tomb, died in a Cairo hotel four months after the crypt was opened.
He had been in poor health for many years after a car crash, and a mosquito bite made worse by a shaving cut led to blood poisoning and pneumonia.
Reports at the time said Lord Carnarvon suffered from “pain as the inflammation affected the nasal passages and eyes”.
Decades later, scientists contended he had died of aspergillosis after inhaling spores of the fungus aspergillus in the tomb, which can lie dormant for months. The fact several others who entered were also found dead withiin a short time led to the myth of the curse.

- September 21 Anyone interested in becoming a certified yoga instructor can sign up for a 250-hour course in Yoga Teacher Training with Jacquelene Sadek. It begins on September 21 and will take place over the course of six weekends.
- October 18 to 21 International yoga instructor, Yogi Nora, will be visiting Bodytree and offering classes.
- October 26 to November 4 International pilates instructor Courtney Miller will be on hand at the studio, offering classes.
- November 9 Bodytree is hosting a party to celebrate turning 10, and everyone is invited. Expect a day full of free classes on the grounds of the studio.
- December 11 Yogeswari, an advanced certified Jivamukti teacher, will be visiting the studio.
- February 2, 2018 Bodytree will host its 4th annual yoga market.

His life in brief: Born in a village near Galilee, he lived in exile for most of his life and started writing poetry after high school. He was arrested several times by Israel for what were deemed to be inciteful poems. Most of his work focused on the love and yearning for his homeland, and he was regarded the Palestinian poet of resistance. Over the course of his life, he published more than 30 poetry collections and books of prose, with his work translated into more than 20 languages. Many of his poems were set to music by Arab composers, most significantly Marcel Khalife. Darwish died on August 9, 2008 after undergoing heart surgery in the United States. He was later buried in Ramallah where a shrine was erected in his honour.
