Singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Long Island, New York.
Timberlake, 43, was expected to be arraigned in Sag Harbour, in the east of Long Island, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said in a statement.
The Can't Stop the Feeling singer was taken into custody after he left a dinner at The American Hotel, People magazine reported. Timberlake's representatives did not immediately comment.
Sag Harbour police said an officer pulled Timberlake over shortly after midnight after seeing him driving his BMW through a stop sign and failing to stay on the right side of the road.
“Upon investigation, it was determined that Mr Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition,” police said, confirming earlier media reports.
Timberlake's eyes were “bloodshot and glassy,” and he “performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests", CBS reported, quoting court documents.
The pop star and actor is scheduled to perform at two concerts in Chicago this weekend, with two shows in New York City next week, his website said.
Timberlake started his career as a Disney Mouseketeer, where his cast mates included future partner and pop star Britney Spears. He rose to fame as a member of NSYNC before embarking on a solo career in 2002.
The American has earned acclaim as an actor in films including The Social Network and Friends With Benefits. He has won 10 Grammy awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards.
