Dubai Police impounded a vehicle and fined its driver for near miss on a delivery rider.
Officers noticed a video on social media that showed a driver in a black Mazda swerving suddenly at an interchange, putting a delivery rider in danger.
The video showed the delivery rider turning right to take an exit, but a driver in front then also turned right, seemingly trying to cut the delivery rider off and almost knocking him down.
“The driver was reckless and swerved suddenly on the road in a chaotic scene violating the road safety and manners,” Dubai Police said in a statement on Friday.
“Police patrols identified the location and caught the driver. His vehicle was impounded and he will face legal action.”
Motorists who drive recklessly and endanger life and safety face a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points and having their vehicle impounded for 60 days.
Details of the incident’s location or the driver's details were not revealed.
“We won’t stand for any reckless behaviour on the road. Our patrols and smart systems work around the clock to catch such practices,” Dubai Police said. “Driving recklessly is not bravery or skill. It is carelessness that can cost lives.”
People are advised to report any dangerous behaviour on the roads.
