President Sheikh Mohamed was welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Cairo on Monday, at the start of a visit to the country.
The two leaders took part in discussions that reflect the long-standing ties between the nations and focused on joint action in the economic, trade and developmental fields, the state news agency Wam reported.
In the meeting, which took place at Al Ittihadiya Palace, the two men stressed the importance of building momentum around the recognition of a Palestinian state. They added that the two-state solution is the only path to achieving comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.
Sheikh Mohamed was earlier met by Mr El Sisi at Cairo International Airport, where a military guard of honour was formed, the flags of both countries put on display and a red carpet laid out to mark his arrival.
Sheikh Mohamed is joined by a high-level delegation, which includes Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad, Adviser to the UAE President, along with a number of ministers and senior officials.
Sheikh Mohamed and Mr El Sisi meet regularly in the Emirates and Egypt in support of the deep-rooted friendship between the countries. Sheikh Mohamed previously travelled to Egypt in August, where he held talks with Mr El Sisi. Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said this visit demonstrated the strength of relations and the importance of continued co-operation.
"Co-operation between Egypt and the UAE continues to grow in vital areas, including energy, investment and economic development, affirming ongoing work to strengthen and expand its horizons in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries and supports comprehensive development plans in the region," he said.
