The UAE on Friday announced that its embassy in Lebanon's capital Beirut had officially resumed diplomatic activities.
The two countries agreed to strengthen bilateral relations in recent months.
Omar Al Shamsi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the reopening of the embassy is an important step in the renewed co-operation between the UAE and Lebanon, state news agency Wam reported.
The Emirati embassy in the Lebanese capital had been closed since October 2021, and talks focused on reopening had been in motion since early January.
Mr Al Shamsi said that the embassy reopening underscored close fraternal ties between the two nations. He added that it would create and enhance opportunities for collaboration in several sectors.
President Sheikh Mohamed spoke with Lebanon’s new President Joseph Aoun by phone earlier this month to congratulate him on his election and to discuss the reopening of the embassy. During the call, Sheikh Mohamed stressed the UAE's commitment to supporting efforts that ensure Lebanon's security and stability.
Mr Aoun was chosen this month as Lebanon's first President in more than two years, moving the country out of a political stalemate.
The UAE has sent several shipments of critical medical supplies and other humanitarian aid to Lebanon to help in the country's recovery after months of Israeli bombardment.

Vanuatu: $130,000
