President Sheikh Mohamed and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, on Wednesday oversaw the signing of a declaration formalising a strategic partnership between the nations.
The agreement was signed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Mirziyoyev also presided over the announcement of bilateral agreements aimed at furthering links across sectors including industry, technology, food security, defence and security, and investment protection.
The partnerships were set out as the two leaders held talks in the capital focused on bolstering long-standing ties. The discussions covered the economy, trade, investment, renewable energy, environmental conservation, and sustainability. Mr Mirziyoyev is in the UAE to participate in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
“I was pleased to meet with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Abu Dhabi today to discuss the growing strategic partnership between our two countries,” Sheikh Mohamed wrote on social media platform X. “We explored opportunities to expand areas of bilateral co-operation and drive further economic growth, and we reaffirmed the UAE and Uzbekistan’s ongoing commitment towards global sustainability efforts.”
The discussions also touched on regional and international matters, with the two leaders exchanging views and highlighting the need to strengthen global efforts to promote security, stability, and peace, state news agency Wam reported. Such efforts were said to be “an essential foundation for progress, sustainable development, and a brighter future for generations to come”.
Sheikh Mohamed said the ties between the UAE and Uzbekistan were built on trust, mutual respect and shared interests and “offer numerous opportunities for growth, particularly in sustainability, economy, and investment”, which are crucial for both nations' prosperity.

When it is unveiled at Abu Dhabi Art, the Standing Tall exhibition will appear as an interplay of poetry and art. The 100 scarves are 100 fragments surrounding five, figurative, female sculptures, and both sculptures and scarves are hand-embroidered by a group of refugee women artisans, who used the Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery art of tatreez. Fragments of Sheikh Zayed’s poem Your Love is Ruling My Heart, written in Arabic as a love poem to his nation, are embroidered onto both the sculptures and the scarves.
