Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Foreign Minister of Kuwait, to inaugurate the new Kuwait embassy in Abu Dhabi.
The building is in the Embassies District, Al Ma'arid, with a commemorative plaque unveiled to mark the opening of the mission.
Sheikh Abdullah said the new building signified the strength of the relationship between the UAE and Kuwait, state news agency Wam reported.
He described UAE-Kuwaiti relations as strong while stressing that he looked forward to working with the GCC nation in the future.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Jamal Al Ghunaim, Kuwait's ambassador to the UAE, and several Gulf ambassadors, diplomats and senior officials.
On Monday, Sheikh Abdullah chaired the fifth session of the UAE-Kuwait Joint Higher Committee with Mr Al Yahya leading Kuwait’s delegation.
“Our bilateral non-oil trade has seen significant growth in recent years, reaching its highest levels in history in 2023, with a total value exceeding $12 billion,” Sheik Abdullah said.
“We continually look forward to expanding our partnership with Kuwait, including in sectors such as industry, trade, renewable energy, transportation, and infrastructure.”
He reaffirmed the UAE’s supportive stance regarding Al Durra Field and the ownership of natural resources in the divided submerged area adjacent to the Saudi-Kuwaiti Divided Zone, including the field.
Sheikh Abdullah also witnessed the signing of eight agreements regarding sectors including infrastructure, technology, telecoms, national funding, sporting programmes, culture, cybersecurity and defence.
Sheikh Abdullah also hosted a dinner in honour of the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister.
