Cattle sellers in Cairo have told The National that with less than two weeks to go before Eid Al Adha, the market's most important season, sales are nearly stagnant.
Increased prices and inflation mean exorbitant prices for cattle, with the cheapest calves selling for as high as 70,000 Egyptian pounds. This is in comparison to last year, when one animal cost around 30,000 Egyptian pounds.
