A bathtub carved from a single piece of white rock crystal has become the world's most expensive ever to go on sale, costing a staggering $790,000 (Dh2.9m). With the tub currently on display at the top London store Harrods, we bring you five other ridiculously expensive items.

Made from crocodile leather, platinum and 52 carats of hand-set diamonds, this $3.2 million collar includes 1,600 diamonds and a seven-carat, brilliant-cut centre diamond. At least your dog won't be able to chew through it.

Created to usher in the 2009 wedding season, each cupcake costs $30,000 and includes a single, two-carat Asscher-cut diamond surrounded by eight brilliant-cut diamonds. As if cup cakes weren't bad enough for your teeth already.

With South Africa hosting this year's World Cup, the Cape Town-based jewellers Shimansky designed a football encrusted with 3,500 carats of South African diamonds. The ball is valued at $2.59 million.

Designed by Fernando Altamirano, the 24-carat gold-coated bottle is based on the work of the late Italian painter and sculptor Modigliani. It holds blended spring water from France and the Fiji Islands, as well as glacier water from Iceland. All this for only $60,000.

Designed on commission by Stuart Hughes, this phone is made from 18-carat rose gold and inlaid with hundreds of diamonds, including a single-cut 7.1-carat diamond for the main navigation button. It costs a cool $2.97 million.
