Get your yoga mat out and step into the zen zone with thousands of others who will be celebrating International Yoga Day at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Saturday.
After the success of last year’s inaugural event to mark International Yoga Day, the Indian Consulate in Dubai in association with the Dubai Sports Council and XYoga Dubai will be hosting an even bigger gathering of residents and international yogis on June 18. International Yoga Day is officially June 21.
Indian yoga teachers Baba Ramdev and Bharat Thakur, founder of Artistic Yoga, will lead this year’s event, which starts at 7.30pm. Doors open at 6pm.
Ramdev’s yoga practice and work in Ayurveda is followed by several celebrities and has attracted youth to the discipline with his mass yoga camps. The event in Dubai is expected to attract more than 15,000 people.
More than 170 countries, including the United States, Canada, China, Saudi Arabia and the UAE support and are co-sponsors of the resolution to mark the event annually.

How to apply for a drone permit
- Individuals must register on UAE Drone app or website using their UAE Pass
- Add all their personal details, including name, nationality, passport number, Emiratis ID, email and phone number
- Upload the training certificate from a centre accredited by the GCAA
- Submit their request
What are the regulations?
- Fly it within visual line of sight
- Never over populated areas
- Ensure maximum flying height of 400 feet (122 metres) above ground level is not crossed
- Users must avoid flying over restricted areas listed on the UAE Drone app
- Only fly the drone during the day, and never at night
