Emirati fitness legend Essa Al Ansari will kickstart a series of bi-monthly talks this Saturday at Flow, a healthy-eating and creative hub in Jumeirah Emirates Towers.
The Flow Talk Series will be hosted by the UAE’s influencers, enprepreneurs and respected tycoons, and will cover a range of topics from health and wellness to fitness, business and more.
Al Ansari, who has more than 48,500 followers on Instagram, will talk about his weight-loss transformation, which started just four years ago when he hit 130 kilograms. Now 70kg lighter, Essa’s mission is to inspire Emirati youths to adopt a healthy diet and physical activity.
“My number one goal is to inspire the youth, and especially the youth of the UAE,” says Al Ansari. “As Sheikh Mohammed said: ‘We are a young country, proud of its youth’. The vibe at Flow is all about getting in the ideal ‘state of mind’, and inspiring people to have the right, positive attitude. I am very excited to be part of that, and inspire as many listeners as possible, changing one life at a time.”
The second talk, which will be held on May 20 at 11am, will be hosted by Abeer Al Khaja, co-founder of Ana Gow Running Club. A CrossFit level-two coach, Al Khaja will discuss the best practices for Ramadan training, including balancing exercise with fasting, recommended food plans and top tips for keeping healthy. All 20-minute Flow Talks will be followed by a Q&A.

Mia Man’s tips for fermentation
- Start with a simple recipe such as yogurt or sauerkraut
- Keep your hands and kitchen tools clean. Sanitize knives, cutting boards, tongs and storage jars with boiling water before you start.
- Mold is bad: the colour pink is a sign of mold. If yogurt turns pink as it ferments, you need to discard it and start again. For kraut, if you remove the top leaves and see any sign of mold, you should discard the batch.
- Always use clean, closed, airtight lids and containers such as mason jars when fermenting yogurt and kraut. Keep the lid closed to prevent insects and contaminants from getting in.
