Yogafest Dubai will go ahead in 2021 from March 18 to 20.
For the tenth time, the annual outdoor festival will take place at Dubai Internet City Amphitheatre, with a packed schedule of educational workshops, classes and talks on health and wellness topics.
In 2020, the event was cancelled because of Covid-19, and attendees in 2021 can expect to follow strict health and safety guidelines. This includes bringing your own yoga mat or buying one on-site, as no rental mats will be available.
The schedule for the three-day event has been revealed, with the highlights including sessions on how to prime your immune system and combat Covid-19 through specific breathing exercises, shaking and sound therapy.
For yogis, there will be workshops on handstands and backbends, as well as AcroYoga and partner yoga. There will also be talks on improving sleep and hormone yoga therapy for women.
On Saturday, March 20, a celebration for the spring equinox will take place in the form of a sun salutation session from 7.15am.
There is plenty for families, too, from Thai massages for couples to children and laughter yoga.
On top of the talks and classes, there will also be a marketplace to showcase sustainable, eco-friendly products. As for food, vegetarian meals from brands such as Spill the Bean, Coco Yogo and Little Erth by Nabz&G will be available from the Nourish Zone.
More information on sessions is available on the website.
“It's amazing to see what started as a one-day event to celebrate the winter solstice in 2010 still connecting this community of wellness professionals and students ten years later,” says Yogafest founder Elaine Kelly. “It’s been an incredibly tough year, people need our support more than ever and we are here to help.”
Every year, the organisers choose a children’s charity to support, and this year they’ve gone for UK-registered non-profit Gulf for Good, which works to eradicate poverty, offer quality education, and promote health and well-being among children across the world.
Over the years, Yogafest has donated Dh365,000 to charities such as Al Jalila Foundation, Dubai Cares and Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
Passes for this year's event are available from Dh50 or Dh95 per day or a full festival pass for Dh150 for all three days.
Attendees must register online at www.yogafest.me.
