Flying from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi
On Sunday, June 28 Etihad confirmed that services from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi had been suspended. The airline had included three cities in Pakistan, Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore on its July route map.
"With immediate effect, Etihad Airways will temporarily suspend its passenger services from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi until further notice," an Etihad spokesperson said in a statement. "This precautionary measure is being taken to limit the spread of Covid-19, and does not currently affect Etihad's passenger services into Pakistan from Abu Dhabi."
UAE travel regulations
Strict travel regulations remain in place in Abu Dhabi to curb the spread of Covid-19. Upon arrival in the emirate, passengers must self-isolate for 14 days.
The airline also specifies: "Due to government restrictions across our network, you will only be permitted to carry a personal item on board, such as a handbag, backpack or laptop bag. This can weigh up to 5kg. You may check in your remaining cabin baggage before you fly for free. This applies if you are flying in Economy, Business or First.
"Our lounges in Abu Dhabi remain closed, and we’re working to reopen them as soon as we can."
Etihad continues to operate repatriation flights to transport travellers trying to get back to their home countries. See here for The National's complete guide to repatriation flights.
At the time of writing, Flydubai had announced new flights to 24 destinations, and Emirates has reopened routes to 48 cities.

The BIO
Favourite piece of music: Verdi’s Requiem. It’s awe-inspiring.
Biggest inspiration: My father, as I grew up in a house where music was constantly played on a wind-up gramophone. I had amazing music teachers in primary and secondary school who inspired me to take my music further. They encouraged me to take up music as a profession and I follow in their footsteps, encouraging others to do the same.
Favourite book: Ian McEwan’s Atonement – the ending alone knocked me for six.
Favourite holiday destination: Italy - music and opera is so much part of the life there. I love it.
