Emirates has just released a short video in preparation for welcoming back visitors to Dubai.
The just under one-minute clip shows how the emirate is readying for guests through safety measures including thermal body temperature checks and disinfecting of items, while also showcasing the city's many attractions. Popular spots featured include the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountains, La Perle, Dubai Creek, Atlantis the Palm and more.
"We've been waiting, dreaming, looking forward to when we meet again. We've also been preparing, getting ready, knowing the time to see each other comes closer with every rising sun," the Dubai airline says in the video. "We promised to welcome you with open doors, to make your journey extraordinary and your wellbeing, our priority. We said we needed a moment and it will only be a moment more. Dubai, daarna, home."
Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, flights in and out of the UAE grounded back in March. However, some have since retaken to the skies with cargo, repatriation and a handful of flights to select destinations currently operating.
Speaking at the first virtual Arabian Travel Market on Monday, June 1, Emirates president Tim Clark told interviewer and aviation expert John Strickland that he hoped tourists would be back in the emirate by July. However, if travel restrictions were lifted and there was passenger demand to travel, Emirates could ready its fleet to be back in the sky within 48 hours, Clark confirmed during the ATM webinar.
He also believed it would be bit of a wait before travelling returns to normal.
"I think probably by the year 2022-23, 2023-24 we will see things coming back to some degree of normality and Emirates will be operating its network as it was and hopefully as successfully as it was," he said.

The flights
FlyDubai flies direct from Dubai to Skopje in five hours from Dh1,314 return including taxes. Hourly buses from Skopje to Ohrid take three hours.
