TikTok is the source of a lot of inspiration these days. From the latest coffee trend, to the dance routine everyone needs to learn, it can help put everything from songs to beauty techniques on the map.
And it's also becoming an increasing source of travel inspiration, too. Traditionally, Instagram and Pinterest have been the go-to places for your wanderlust, but as more and more creators favour TikTok, it's becoming a serious contender for the home of travel inspiration.
Luggage storage company Bounce analysed the top trending cities on TikTok, based on the content with the most views, to establish the places giving the video sharing platform’s users the most inspiration.
Unsurprisingly, Dubai made the list, coming in at second place, with 37.1 billion hashtag views. Here is a look at where else made the top 10.

In top spot by some way is New York City, with views for videos featuring the hashtag #NYC totalling more than 216 billion. Home to some of the world's most famous landmarks, as well as being the cultural capital of the US, it's unsurprising that the Big Apple topped the list.
2. Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 37.1 billion views
Dubai takes the second spot, with just over 37 billion views. The city has become one of the world’s top holiday destinations in recent years, and with its luxurious hotels, shops and restaurants, along with its ultramodern buildings, and lively nightlife, it’s easy to see why Dubai is popular with TikTokers.
3. Istanbul, Turkey - 16.9 billion views
Turkey's capital, Istanbul, comes in at third place, racking up just under 17 billion views, beating some of Europe's other big cities. Situated on the cusp of Europe and Asia, Istanbul is brimming with culture, history and landmarks, while its lively nightlife and incredible food scene help explain why the city's TikTok creators are inspired.
4. London, United Kingdom – 13.9 billion views
Unsurprisingly, the English capital comes in at fourth place, with close to 14 billion views. Thanks to its cultural landmarks including Buckingham Palace, the Natural History Museum and Tate Modern, as well as a bustling nightlife and theatre scene, London remains one of the most popular city destinations in Europe.
5. Barcelona, Spain – 12.6 billion views
With its world-famous architecture, sprawling food markets, and stretches of sandy beaches, content created from Barcelona on TikTok raked up 12.6 billion views, putting it at number five. The spot has a unique blend of city and beach vibes, offering endless travel inspiration.
6. Paris, France – 11.2 billion views
The city of light came in at number six on the list, racking up 11.2 billion TikTok views. Thanks to its incredible landmarks, chic style and abundance of art and cultural attractions, TikTokers are forever finding new ways to find ideas in the city.
7. Mumbai, India – 9.6 billion views
Mumbai, the most populated city in India, comes in at number seven. Brimming with culture and the sights and smells of India's spices and cuisines, TikTok users are keen to explore the hashtag for future travel inspiration.
8. Hawaii, United States – 9.4 billion views
The US's island state is a bucket-list destination for most people, so it's no surprise that it made the list. Racking up 9.4 billion views, its green mountains, rolling waves and pristine beaches are the subject of many videos.
9. Miami, United States – 9.1 billion views
As one of the most popular party hotspots in the US, content created under the Miami hashtag has racked up 9.1 billion views. With its flashy houses, mega-clubs and pristine shores, the celebrity hotspot is a travel must for people looking for a lively getaway.
10. Toronto, Canada – 8.4 billion views
The financial capital of Canada rounds out the top 10, racking up 8.4 billion views. Known for its incredible food scene, green parks and the famous CN tower, it's a city rife for exploring – and then posting your adventures to TikTok, of course.

How Tesla’s price correction has hit fund managers
Investing in disruptive technology can be a bumpy ride, as investors in Tesla were reminded on Friday, when its stock dropped 7.5 per cent in early trading to $575.
It recovered slightly but still ended the week 15 per cent lower and is down a third from its all-time high of $883 on January 26. The electric car maker’s market cap fell from $834 billion to about $567bn in that time, a drop of an astonishing $267bn, and a blow for those who bought Tesla stock late.
The collapse also hit fund managers that have gone big on Tesla, notably the UK-based Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust and Cathie Wood’s ARK Innovation ETF.
Tesla is the top holding in both funds, making up a hefty 10 per cent of total assets under management. Both funds have fallen by a quarter in the past month.
Matt Weller, global head of market research at GAIN Capital, recently warned that Tesla founder Elon Musk had “flown a bit too close to the sun”, after getting carried away by investing $1.5bn of the company’s money in Bitcoin.
He also predicted Tesla’s sales could struggle as traditional auto manufacturers ramp up electric car production, destroying its first mover advantage.
AJ Bell’s Russ Mould warns that many investors buy tech stocks when earnings forecasts are rising, almost regardless of valuation. “When it works, it really works. But when it goes wrong, elevated valuations leave little or no downside protection.”
A Tesla correction was probably baked in after last year’s astonishing share price surge, and many investors will see this as an opportunity to load up at a reduced price.
Dramatic swings are to be expected when investing in disruptive technology, as Ms Wood at ARK makes clear.
Every week, she sends subscribers a commentary listing “stocks in our strategies that have appreciated or dropped more than 15 per cent in a day” during the week.
Her latest commentary, issued on Friday, showed seven stocks displaying extreme volatility, led by ExOne, a leader in binder jetting 3D printing technology. It jumped 24 per cent, boosted by news that fellow 3D printing specialist Stratasys had beaten fourth-quarter revenues and earnings expectations, seen as good news for the sector.
By contrast, computational drug and material discovery company Schrödinger fell 27 per cent after quarterly and full-year results showed its core software sales and drug development pipeline slowing.
Despite that setback, Ms Wood remains positive, arguing that its “medicinal chemistry platform offers a powerful and unique view into chemical space”.
In her weekly video view, she remains bullish, stating that: “We are on the right side of change, and disruptive innovation is going to deliver exponential growth trajectories for many of our companies, in fact, most of them.”
Ms Wood remains committed to Tesla as she expects global electric car sales to compound at an average annual rate of 82 per cent for the next five years.
She said these are so “enormous that some people find them unbelievable”, and argues that this scepticism, especially among institutional investors, “festers” and creates a great opportunity for ARK.

British aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who funded the expedition to find the Tutankhamun tomb, died in a Cairo hotel four months after the crypt was opened.
He had been in poor health for many years after a car crash, and a mosquito bite made worse by a shaving cut led to blood poisoning and pneumonia.
Reports at the time said Lord Carnarvon suffered from “pain as the inflammation affected the nasal passages and eyes”.
