If you’re among the many Abu Dhabi residents whose travel plans have been put on hold this summer, why not use this as an opportunity to explore the capital instead?
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) launched on Friday, July 24, the Rediscover Abu Dhabi campaign, with exactly this sentiment.
The campaign introduces a range of offers for residents at multiple locations across the emirate throughout the summer. It is part of a collaborative effort between the private and public sector to boost the tourism industry as the emirate gradually reopens.
“We have worked relentlessly to tackle consumer concerns and prepare Abu Dhabi from every front in order to safely welcome visitors once again,” said Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, executive director of tourism and marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi in a statement.
“Rediscover Abu Dhabi is a special campaign that provides our local residents and the wider UAE community with the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the joys of Abu Dhabi, including its diversity and authenticity… We are excited for our local visitors to experience Abu Dhabi’s hidden gems and rediscover its serenity.”
The campaign will include deals and offers across hotels, attractions, retail outlets and restaurants.
Additionally, UAE residents will be able to enjoy all-inclusive packages, like hotel stays with experiences at attractions in Abu Dhabi, like Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and more.
Abu Dhabi also recently launched the 'Unbox Amazing' campaign, which is part of Abu Dhabi's summer platform, with offers and experiences within the retail and culinary scenes.
The Rediscover Abu Dhabi campaign will work in parallel with another DCT Abu Dhabi initiative - Go Safe certification - which ensures hotel establishments are adhering to strict hygiene and safety guidelines. More than 95 per cent of hotels in Abu Dhabi are currently on track to receive the certification.
In line with the safety measures implemented, certified entities’ customer facing staff will be tested for Covid-19 every 14 days.
Currently, residents entering Abu Dhabi require a valid PCR test.

Ziina users can donate to relief efforts in Beirut
Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless. Ziina has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to raise money for the Lebanese capital, co-founder Faisal Toukan says. “As of October 1, the UNHCR has the first certified badge on Ziina and is automatically part of user's top friends' list during this campaign. Users can now donate any amount to the Beirut relief with two clicks. The money raised will go towards rebuilding houses for the families that were impacted by the explosion.”
