If you've been thinking about booking a staycation, you might want to consider heading to the northern-most emirate.

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has just launched a new promotion in an effort to boost domestic travel.

From Sunday, June 7, any guest booking three nights or longer at participating hotels in Ras Al Khaimah will get free activity passes to some of the emirate's most popular attractions, including Jebel Jais Flight, the world's longest zip line. Children under 12 will also stay and dine for free during these three-night bookings.

Some of the participating hotels include:

  • Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah
  • The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert
  • Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa
  • Marjan Island Resort & Spa
  • The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah Al Hamra Beach
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan

Travellers can opt to receive two passes to Suwaidi Pearl Farm, where guests take a tour that will teach them more about the pearling industry.

Set in a small fishing village against the backdrop of the Hajar Mountains, this family-friendly excursion was set up by the grandson of one of the last pearl divers in the UAE.

Thrill-seekers might prefer to opt for passes to Jebel Jais Adventure Peak. There, adrenalin-pumping options include the world's longest zip line, navigating seven zip lines and a 15-metre sky bridge on the Jais Sky Tour or tackling obstacles, rope swings and wobbly bridges while suspended off the ground on the Jais Sky Maze.

Every booking for three nights or longer in any participating hotel in Ras Al Khaimah is eligible for two free passes. Abu Dhabi residents who cannot currently leave the emirate, can book a staycation for further down the line, as the promotion runs for stays until Monday, August 31.

Post check-out, eligible guests will also be entered into a weekly prize draw hosted by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority where there's the chance to win a number of prizes, including a brand-new Mercedes.

As part of the summer tourism campaign, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has also collaborated with hotel operators to offer free stays and complimentary dining for children under the age of 12, on bookings of three nights or more.

There are several hotels taking part in the promotion, so it should be easy to find something to suit every traveller – from family -riendly hotels to budget stays or exclusive villa resorts with private pools. A full list of the hotels particpating in the promotion can be found on the website of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.

Safety guidelines at UAE hotels

Hotel swimming pools and beaches are open in Ras Al Khaimah, and all hotels have implemented enhanced hygiene and safety procedures to protect guests against Covid-19 transmission.

These include daily temperature scanning, upgraded sanitation policies in rooms and facilities, social-distancing measures on beaches and in swimming pools and limited dining capacity in restaurants. Inspectors from Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority will conduct daily spot checks to ensure adherence to these preventive measures.

The Facility’s Versatility

Between the start of the 2020 IPL on September 20, and the end of the Pakistan Super League this coming Thursday, the Zayed Cricket Stadium has had an unprecedented amount of traffic.
Never before has a ground in this country – or perhaps anywhere in the world – had such a volume of major-match cricket.
And yet scoring has remained high, and Abu Dhabi has seen some classic encounters in every format of the game.

October 18, IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders tied with Sunrisers Hyderabad
The two playoff-chasing sides put on 163 apiece, before Kolkata went on to win the Super Over

January 8, ODI, UAE beat Ireland by six wickets
A century by CP Rizwan underpinned one of UAE’s greatest ever wins, as they chased 270 to win with an over to spare

February 6, T10, Northern Warriors beat Delhi Bulls by eight wickets
The final of the T10 was chiefly memorable for a ferocious over of fast bowling from Fidel Edwards to Nicholas Pooran

March 14, Test, Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe by six wickets
Eleven wickets for Rashid Khan, 1,305 runs scored in five days, and a last session finish

June 17, PSL, Islamabad United beat Peshawar Zalmi by 15 runs
Usman Khawaja scored a hundred as Islamabad posted the highest score ever by a Pakistan team in T20 cricket

Cultural fiesta

What: The Al Burda Festival
When: November 14 (from 10am)
Where: Warehouse421,  Abu Dhabi
The Al Burda Festival is a celebration of Islamic art and culture, featuring talks, performances and exhibitions. Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, this one-day event opens with a session on the future of Islamic art. With this in mind, it is followed by a number of workshops and “masterclass” sessions in everything from calligraphy and typography to geometry and the origins of Islamic design. There will also be discussions on subjects including ‘Who is the Audience for Islamic Art?’ and ‘New Markets for Islamic Design.’ A live performance from Kuwaiti guitarist Yousif Yaseen should be one of the highlights of the day.

Who was Alfred Nobel?

The Nobel Prize was created by wealthy Swedish chemist and entrepreneur Alfred Nobel.

  • In his will he dictated that the bulk of his estate should be used to fund "prizes to those who, during the preceding year, have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind".
  • Nobel is best known as the inventor of dynamite, but also wrote poetry and drama and could speak Russian, French, English and German by the age of 17. The five original prize categories reflect the interests closest to his heart.
  • Nobel died in 1896 but it took until 1901, following a legal battle over his will, before the first prizes were awarded.
Tamkeen's offering
  • Option 1: 70% in year 1, 50% in year 2, 30% in year 3
