The world’s fastest roller coaster has reopened to the public after an 11-month closure for refurbishment.

Formula Rossa – capable of accelerating from 0 to 240kph in just 4.9 seconds – is once again welcoming thrill-seekers at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. The roller coaster, which had closed unexpectedly in January, officially reopened on Tuesday.

In March, a user on X had asked Ferrari World whether there was a tentative reopening date for the attraction, as its website only said “closed until further notice”. However, the response said they had no information on the reopening.

The ride lasts one minute, 32 seconds and has been one of the star attractions at Ferrari World, which opened in 2010. Famous faces who have ridden the roller coaster include comedian and actor Kevin Hart, football star Rio Ferdinand, Blackpink’s Jennie and F1's Kimi Raikkonen, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr.

In October, the world’s first Ferrari-themed Esports Arena was launched at the theme park, allowing gamers to dive into 20 Grand Turismo simulators to test their racing skills.

Last year, the theme park also unveiled a high-octane ride called Mission Ferrari, which features the world's first sideways drop. Mission Ferrari is gentler and lasts longer than Formula Rossa with a ride time of around four minutes.

Besides the rides, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi also offers roof-walking experiences where guests can take sweeping views of Yas Island. The Family Zone is dedicated to younger visitors and features miniature, child-approved versions of four of the most famous rides, including Formula Rossa.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is minutes away from other Yas Island attractions including Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi and Clymb Abu Dhabi.
