Talk literature with author Lisa O’Donnell, Dubai
Author Lisa O'Donnell ill be in Dubai for an evening of literature hosted by the Emirates Literature Foundation. O'Donnell is award-winning author of The Death of Bees (2013), which won the Commonwealth Book Prize. Her second novel, Closed Doors was described as a "dazzling new novel" by The New York Times Book Review.

Last chance to see the 'Friends' set in Dubai
Head to The Dubai Fountain and your last chance to visit the famous Central Perk Cafe set from the hit American television show, Friends. The set-up is displayed on a float with a backdrop of the Burj Khalifa. On display is the signature orange couch, rug, coffee table and other accessories seen on the show. Fans can take photos while visiting the prop set.

Get out on the water at the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show
Returning to the capital from October 16 to 19, the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show 2019 will play host to a weekend of maritime activities. As well as showcasing the best in the luxury yacht, leisure marine and fishing industries, the show will offer visitors the chance to get out on the water for a number of high-adrenalin activities and enjoy live stunts and performances.

Dine with Massimo Bottura in Dubai
This week, Massimo Bottura will host two dinners at his Italian restaurant, Torno Subito, at W Dubai – The Palm. Bottura is set to step behind the stove at Torno Subito, his only restaurant outside of Italy, on Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17. Dine on an eight-course feast, featuring menu of some of his favourite childhood dishes; the experience costs Dh450 with a welcome drink, or Dh595 with three drinks. The menu includes pappa al pomodoro; focaccia with robiola cheese and black truffle; a mozzarella and scamorza calzone; roasted octopus with green pea velvet and crunchy pickled vegetables and a fassona beef tartare.

Enjoy 'The Phantom of the Opera' in Dubai
Phantom of the Opera, one of the most popular musicals of all time, is heading to the Dubai Opera stage to entertain theatre-lovers over a three-week run. The multi-award-winning show by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which tells the tale of a phantom in love with a lead soprano, premiered in 1986 and has since been seen by more than 130 million people worldwide.

The UK’s longest-running eSports and gaming festival is coming to Dubai for the first time, for three full days. Scour for books in the Big Bad Wolf Sale, Dubai
The world’s biggest book sale is continuing in Dubai this week. Over the course of 10 days, the 24-hour event will offer massive discounts on literature, children’s books, cookbooks, self-help guides, crime fiction and more. Get tickets for a screening of episodes from the popular American TV show Friends. In honour of the show's 25th anniversary, Vox Cinemas will screen some of the most popular episodes in 4K on the big screen. Four episodes will be screened in separate sittings, held on Monday, October 14, Saturday, October 19 and Wednesday, October 23. Celebrate all things cucumber at Soho Garden Dubai

Get in to the Halloween spirit at Green Planet Dubai
Visit The Haunted Rainforest at The Green Planet. For two weeks, the family-friendly indoor tropical rainforest in City Walk will transform into an eerie Halloween haunt, complete with spooky spider webs, animal skeletons, pumpkins galore and a series of Face Your Fears animal encounters. There will be animal face painting and a range of child-friendly games including hopscotch and pumpkin tic-tac-toe.
