Today, a new shopping portal launched, as Amazon.ae replaced souq.com overnight. Now, if you visit the Souq site, you'll be redirected to the new domain, where you're greeted with a message from Souq's co-founder. Ronaldo Mouchawar, who is vice president of Amazon Mena, promises the new site will "bring together the best of Souq's local know-how and Amazon's global retailing experience, and features over 30 million products, including those previously available on Souq and five million products from Amazon US".
Right now, there are plenty of bargains to bag, with up to 60 per cent off on products of all varieties. These range from household essentials to top electronics and kitchen equipment, with a wide selection of necessities for Ramadan.

Water waste
In the UAE’s arid climate, small shrubs, bushes and flower beds usually require about six litres of water per square metre, daily. That increases to 12 litres per square metre a day for small trees, and 300 litres for palm trees.
