Queen Rania of Jordan is well known for her sense of style, and her ability to seamlessly mix humanitarian work with impeccable elegance. On her first engagement of 2019 - a visit to the Children’s Museum Jordan, on January 14 - she stepped out in a checked buttoned top by A.W.A.K.E, paired with an asymmetric hemmed navy skirt. Set up under her initiative, the Children’s Museum is, according to her official website “a realisation of a personal dream" for Jordan's children, and was established to give kids a safe space to come together, play and laugh, and let loose young imaginations.
As the mother of four children of her own (plus the author of numerous children's books), Queen Rania is a vocal advocate for children's rights, and is dedicated to bringing quality education to children all over the the world. She is honorary chair of the UN Girl’s Education Initiative and, with a degree in business administration, she also sits on the board of both the United Nations Foundation and the World Economic Forum,. She is also the Eminent Advocate for Unicef.
In addition, the Queen was part of the UN-appointed High Level Panel, which helped shape the Sustainable Development Goals, an ambitious plan to help improve the lives of millions of people by 2030.

The bag company Halm was founded by the Swedish-English duo of Hanna Ransjö and Hannah Louise Brewer, who together set up a company to mix Northern european design sensibilities with Middle Eastern respect for quality. Designed and made entirely in the UAE, Halm specialise in using high quality leathers and nubucks, with a distinctive woven leather strap. Khalfan Mubarak
The Al Jazira playmaker has for some time been tipped for stardom within UAE football, with Quique Sanchez Flores, his former manager at Al Ahli, once labelling him a “genius”. He was only 17. Now 23, Mubarak has developed into a crafty supplier of chances, evidenced by his seven assists in six league matches this season. Still to display his class at international level, though.

The Al Ain attacking midfielder has become a regular starter for his club in the past 15 months. Yaslam, 23, is a tidy and intelligent player, technically proficient with an eye for opening up defences. Developed while alongside Abdulrahman in the Al Ain first-team and has progressed well since manager Zoran Mamic’s arrival. However, made his UAE debut only last December.
Ismail Matar
The Al Wahda forward is revered by teammates and a key contributor to the squad. At 35, his best days are behind him, but Matar is incredibly experienced and an example to his colleagues. His ability to cope with tournament football is a concern, though, despite Matar beginning the season well. Not a like-for-like replacement, although the system could be adjusted to suit.

How to join and use Abu Dhabi’s public libraries
• There are six libraries in Abu Dhabi emirate run by the Department of Culture and Tourism, including one in Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
• Libraries are free to visit and visitors can consult books, use online resources and study there. Most are open from 8am to 8pm on weekdays, closed on Fridays and have variable hours on Saturdays, except for Qasr Al Watan which is open from 10am to 8pm every day.
• In order to borrow books, visitors must join the service by providing a passport photograph, Emirates ID and a refundable deposit of Dh400. Members can borrow five books for three weeks, all of which are renewable up to two times online.
• If users do not wish to pay the fee, they can still use the library’s electronic resources for free by simply registering on the website. Once registered, a username and password is provided, allowing remote access.
