Everyone’s favourite Covid-19 PE instructor Joe Wicks, has had surgery on his hand.
Having broken his hand in a bicycle crash in March, wires were put into the knit the bones together recently became inflamed, prompting the 33-year-old to admit himself to hospital.
Describing the infection as "throbbing and pulsating like liquid hot magma", the infected wires were removed at an English NHS hospital, with Wicks declaring he was "super grateful for the health system we've got".
Despite the surgery, Wicks has vowed to be back at work on Monday morning, teaching PE to the children of the world. Although he has conceded that he was going to need his wife Rosie to help out as a "supply teacher".
"I've just asked my lovely wife Rosie to help me on Monday morning and she's kindly agreed," he announced on Instagram. "It's well out of her comfort zone but she's my best friend and she knows how much this means to me. I don't want to let anyone down but I don't think I'm going to be able to demo many exercises so I'll be having Rosie on camera with me."
He then added "I'll still lead the session and coach you through it. I'll just have Rosie demonstrating the moves."
Wicks then went on to praise the medical team looking after him. "I think it's amazing, the NHS people out here still grafting, still having to be around the Covid patients and it's just wonderful isn't it, that people are that kind to dedicate their lives to helping other people that are sick and unwell feel better."
Through his online PE lessons, Wicks has already raised almost Dh920,000 for the NHS.
