A classic Union Flag-covered E-Type Jaguar that was one of two to appear in the second Austin Powers movie is on sale. The 1970 XKE Cabriolet was driven by Powers (played by Mike Myers) in the 1999 film as he set about overcoming Dr Evil, his world domination-obsessed nemesis. The collector's item is being offered for sale via Dutch dealer E&R Classic Cars (erclassics.com) for €89,000 (Dh406,540) and the company said it is in very good condition. The Jag underwent a full restoration before filming and it has been driven just 6,473 miles (10,417km) since then. It has a 4.2L engine that produces 265hp, giving it a 0 to 100kph time of 6.3 seconds.
1928 MG buried under shed wins vintage gong
A 1928 MG MK IV racing car that was found dismantled and buried under a shed has won an award after being restored to its former glory. The car, which may have lain underground for 50 years, was restored by Fred Body, of Somerset, England, before scooping the Best Vintage Car award at the British Classic Car Show, reports the Daily Mail. No one knows for sure how it came to be dismantled piece by piece and left underground but Body reckons it was buried because of the impending Second World War. The car was found under a cow shed in 1999. It took Body a year to piece the two-seater together again. He completed the painstaking task earlier this year and the car, of which there are only 135 from 1928, won the gong in April.
Ferrari raising funds for Italian 'quake victims
Ferrari is holding an online auction with proceeds going to help people affected by the earthquakes that have rocked northern Italy in recent weeks, killing at least 17 people and leaving hundreds injured. Website www.ferraristore.com will feature a dedicated section aimed at raising as much money as possible. Among the items up for auction will be the 599XX Evo, which costs €1.3 million (Dh5.9m) new, and several Formula One items, such as racing suits and helmets donated by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.
Two sportsmen drive their way to new record
Former Formula One driver David Coulthard and professional golfer Jake Shepherd teamed up last month to set one of the craziest Guinness World Records. Coulthard, driving an open-topped Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster at 193kph caught in the car's cabin a ball driven at 286kph by Shepherd, resulting in a new record for the farthest golf shot caught in a moving car (Coulthard was 275 metres from the tee). Who would've thought there would even be such a record? The stunt was to highlight the power of the V8 engine in the SLS, which can hit 100kph in just 3.8 seconds. It will be available to view on YouTube early next month.

Employment lawyer Meriel Schindler of Withers Worldwide shares her tips on achieving equal pay
Do your homework
Make sure that you are being offered a fair salary. There is lots of industry data available, and you can always talk to people who have come out of the organisation. Where I see people coming a cropper is where they haven’t done their homework.
Don’t be afraid to negotiate
It’s quite standard to negotiate if you think an offer is on the low side. The job is unlikely to be withdrawn if you ask for money, and if that did happen I’d question whether you want to work for an employer who is so hypersensitive.
Know your worth
Women tend to be a bit more reticent to talk about their achievements. In my experience they need to have more confidence in their own abilities – men will big up what they’ve done to get a pay rise, and to compete women need to turn up the volume.
Work together
If you suspect men in your organisation are being paid more, look your boss in the eye and say, “I want you to assure me that I’m paid equivalent to my peers”. If you’re not getting a straight answer, talk to your peer group and consider taking direct action to fix inequality.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

The chef's advice
Troy Payne, head chef at Abu Dhabi’s newest healthy eatery Sanderson’s in Al Seef Resort & Spa, says singles need to change their mindset about how they approach the supermarket.
“They feel like they can’t buy one cucumber,” he says. “But I can walk into a shop – I feed two people at home – and I’ll walk into a shop and I buy one cucumber, I’ll buy one onion.”
Mr Payne asks for the sticker to be placed directly on each item, rather than face the temptation of filling one of the two-kilogram capacity plastic bags on offer.
The chef also advises singletons not get too hung up on “organic”, particularly high-priced varieties that have been flown in from far-flung locales. Local produce is often grown sustainably, and far cheaper, he says.
