Pay-by-the-minute car-rental companies have taken the UAE by storm, with vehicles from ekar and Udrive now regular fixtures on our roads – the latter's green-liveried options are particularly common sights.
Until now, however, nobody was cruising around showing off in models such as the Chevrolet Spark, Nissan Tiida and Toyota Yaris, but that has all changed with the addition of Udrive's Premium Models.
For 70 fils per minute, or Dh279 per day, customers can get behind the wheel of the likes of the Ford Mustang and Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
The price includes fuel, parking, insurance and an allowance of 200 kilometres per day.
The company has also updated its service with the addition of cars in Ajman, as well as starting its Intercity service, which for a Dh75 fee allows motorists to end their journeys in different emirates to where they picked up the car, between Sharjah/Ajman to Abu Dhabi and vice versa.

Volunteers offer workers a lifeline
Community volunteers have swung into action delivering food packages and toiletries to the men.
When provisions are distributed, the men line up in long queues for packets of rice, flour, sugar, salt, pulses, milk, biscuits, shaving kits, soap and telecom cards.
Volunteers from St Mary’s Catholic Church said some workers came to the church to pray for their families and ask for assistance.
Boxes packed with essential food items were distributed to workers in the Dubai Investments Park and Ras Al Khaimah camps last week. Workers at the Sonapur camp asked for Dh1,600 towards their gas bill.
“Especially in this year of tolerance we consider ourselves privileged to be able to lend a helping hand to our needy brothers in the Actco camp," Father Lennie Connully, parish priest of St Mary’s.
Workers spoke of their helplessness, seeing children’s marriages cancelled because of lack of money going home. Others told of their misery of being unable to return home when a parent died.
“More than daily food, they are worried about not sending money home for their family,” said Kusum Dutta, a volunteer who works with the Indian consulate.
