GAMMARTH, TUNISIA // A Tunisian government initiative to employ 10,000 university graduates by 2011 includes a plan to hire 300 graduates to focus on improving road safety in the North African nation. The agreement between the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment and the Tunisian Association of Road Safety includes plans to hire graduates from a wide variety of disciplines to take a broad-ranging approach to the problems on Tunisian roads. The graduates will come from such specialities as sociology, media, information science, cultural and social activities, and technology. The 2009 Global Status Report on Road Safety ranked Tunisia at number 16 for the nation with the highest number of road deaths at 34.5 per 100,000 people. In 2009, 1,497 people died on Tunisian roads.

Hili 2: Unesco World Heritage site
The site is part of the Hili archaeological park in Al Ain. Excavations there have proved the existence of the earliest known agricultural communities in modern-day UAE. Some date to the Bronze Age but Hili 2 is an Iron Age site. The Iron Age witnessed the development of the falaj, a network of channels that funnelled water from natural springs in the area. Wells allowed settlements to be established, but falaj meant they could grow and thrive. Unesco, the UN's cultural body, awarded Al Ain's sites - including Hili 2 - world heritage status in 2011. Now the most recent dig at the site has revealed even more about the skilled people that lived and worked there.
