The Range Rover is 50 years old, having first arrived on the world’s roads in June 1970. And to celebrate the event a new, limited-edition version called the Fifty has been released.

Building on the top-end Autobiography, the new model features bespoke exterior stylings as well as two unique 22-inch wheel designs. The badging comprises a script created specifically for the car, which will appear on the exterior of the vehicle and on the numbered centre console commissioning plaque, as well as the car’s headrests, dashboard and illuminated treadplates.

You’re not likely to forget what vehicle you’re in, then.

A range of powertrain options will be available, including petrol, diesel and a plug-in hybrid P400e version, and vehicles will be available in both standard and long wheelbase versions.

Retro-inspired colours include Tuscan Blue, Bahama Gold, and Davos White, though those will be few in number, with the rest of the models painted in Carpathian Grey, Rosello Red, Aruba, or Santorini Black.

In tune with its birthdate, this latest model will be limited to 1,970 units. You may want to be quick off the mark if the vehicle appeals, therefore.

The Range Rover is now in its fourth generation, and more than a million units have been shifted over the course of its lifetime. The vehicle came about after the company hatched a plan to combine the luxury of a Rover saloon with the off-road capabilities of a Land Rover. In fact, anyone who has travelled in a vintage Land Rover will be surprised they didn’t think of a more comfy driving experience before, but there you go.

When will it be in the UAE?

No word on how much the Fifty will cost yet or when it will makes its UAE debut, but, considering the brand’s popularity in the Middle East, the Emirates is likely to be at the front of the queue when Jaguar Land Rover starts shipping the new model.
