Porsche's new electric sports car the Taycan is creating a stir after the German carmaker unveiled the model to coincide with its 70th anniversary of producing road cars.
Formerly known by its project name Mission E, the 600hp Taycan will become Porsche's first all-electric car when it goes into production next year.
Porsche claims the Taycan, which will hit 100kph from standstill in 3.5 seconds, will have a range of 500km and will able to gain 100km of range in a mere four minutes of charging.
The company also says the Taycan will create about 1,200 new jobs, with about €500 million (Dh2.16 billion) going into developing variants and derivatives of the car.
The car's name roughly translates to "lively young horse" or "spirited young horse".
Porsche 911 Speedster Concept
Another thoroughbred was also revealed to celebrate the German brand's landmark: the 911 Speedster Concept.
Taking inspiration from the very first Porsche, the 356 "No 1" Roadster, its styling is also informed by the carmaker's current GT models.
The open-top sports car features a fuel cap in the middle of its bonnet.
A decision on whether this car will also be put into production will be made "in the coming months", according to Porsche.
