HETHEL // Lotus has revealed plans to build a special edition of its popular Exige two-seater to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the Type 72 Lotus Formula One car, which claimed 20 race wins over six seasons in the 1970s.
Each car will be finished in the classic black and gold paint livery used by the Lotus F1 team in the 1970s and will have a top speed of 230kph.
Twenty examples of the Lotus Exige S Type 72 will be made available in the United Kingdom, the company's home market, a further 20 will be shipped to Europe for sale and an additional quantity will be made available in the rest of the world.
